Deck'n The 'Hood

I don't know about you all, but I am not getting many Christmas chores and errands done.  Even though we have an extra week this year, I am getting "behinder" every day!  Today is the day folks!  I am gonna get to it because I will be tied up all weekend and Monday.   Must set priorities...must set priorities...

Well, I did get the hen house decorated and we all know that is top priority!  The girls look like they live at the Moulin Rouge!

Here it is by day...

And by night...

Look who I found when I got home to get these pics?  If you look in front of the window of the above pic, you will see two blobs.  That would be Rocks Anne and Sophia!  How'd they get out????  They seem to always be on the outside looking in as they are the "young'uns!"

Here are a couple close ups of some decorations...

Some folks probably think I have too much time on my hands.  This wreath only took about an hour.

Oops, I need to clean the inside... something else for my to-do list!  Guess that is really a priority!

I did manage to put out my Nativity set.  I cherish this as it took me a whole Summer to paint about 20 years ago.  Yes, Mary had a wardrobe change... she could have had more than one outfit!  I thought about repainting her, but decided it was part of the set's charm.  I really miss the fireplace top where I used to display them.  They had more room.  But we needed the corn stove worse I guess.  Now they are lined up on top of the piano.  This set is the one thing I've done that the kids both want.  So, I guess I will have to find and paint another set.

There are several spots around the 'hood that have gone to what I think are extraordinary lengths to decorate.  I am sure I have missed some, so please don't be offended if your house isn't here LOL.  (Mine sure isn't!)  The photos don't do them justice.  I need a new camera Santa!!!

This house up the road has still more lights off to the sides!  It had to take days to decorate!  Cool full moon right behind it was a bonus!

The roof changes colors on this one, but the candy cane one didn't turn out:(

and last, but not least, this one is a condo with a dancing Santa far left (a tad creepy because he looks real at first glance...)

Well, I need to get ready to actually work tomorrow for a few hours.  I hope you are all enjoying getting ready for Christmas.  I have to get with the program ASAP!

Feliz Navidad!

"Scenes From My 'Hood" 2

I thought I would give you a pictorial update of things here at the Creek:  Fall fell flat here in Ohio and I feel kinda cheated.  But I still have some cute shots.  Did you have a good Halloween?  I enjoyed giving out some tricks with my treats LOL!  Several folks got a decorative container of "Payday Mix" (candy corn and peanuts) with a lovely plastic roach hidden in it.  I'm not looking forward to the paybacks...

Here is Taylor with Ivy.  Taylor just turned 16 and Ivy will be 16 in a couple weeks.  Taylor carved the pumpkins using clay tools.  We learned about that on the Martha Stewart show a couple weeks ago.

All Grown Up:  Scenes from the Coop

Gloria the Cuckoo Maran (lays chocolate brown eggs!)

Sylvia (Silver-Laced Polish) and Martha (Black and White Polish)

Two views from my front porch of an odd sky a couple minutes apart...

Here is the 9th bridge on the Covered Bridge Tour that goes all around my neighborhood.  This is the only non-covered bridge in Ohio on the Historic Bridges Register.  Built in 1914 it has all its original parts according to the flyer:

Here's a bigger version of the Darby Creek bridge I use for my blog photo...

Well that does it for today's tour.  Hope you enjoyed it.  Go out and get some fresh air before we start to freeze...I am so dreading Winter weather!

Take care,
Gale
